Corn maze

maze, corn maze, maize

Brett Herbst graduated Brigham Young University in 1995 and became another graduating student-agronomist. He didn’t care about job because the Herbsts owed hereditary business – ranch. Everybody has ranch in Idaho…

Brett bought huge vacant field a year later and planted it with corn. Please, note that corn price was not very high at that time, and neighbors were very skeptical about his actions. They all agreed that there wouldn’t have been goon profit even if the harvest had been rich. But Brett didn’t mean to sell his corn. When in autumn the field turned into dense two meters height thicket, he personally cut passages according to his own plan. Corn plantation turned into a giant maze!

In truth, Brett found this idea in one of agricultural magazine – such labyrinth was made to entertain public in Utah few years ago, and there were 18 thousand visitors for a few weeks.

Christmas tree for rent

Christmas tree rental, new year tree, John Fogel

I’ve found an interesting article in the USA Today. Just read below and realize, what a good idea was given to the world by John Fogel from Portland (the USA, Oregon).

As you know, Christmas trees have got rather bad treatment during the Christmas holidays: few weeks they are the queens, and after they are taken to the dumps. It’s rather sad. A lot of families just because of that haven’t got a live tree – too pity to throw it away.

John Fogel established “the Original Living Christmas Tree Company“, which leases out live Christmas trees. Each tree is planted into a special tub with the ground in it and that’s why the roots aren’t injured while transferring. The clients can get a real live tree, which is about 2 meters tall only for 55$. A real tree, a real smell – isn’t it cool?!  When the holidays are finished clients return the tree or, if they want to leave it, they
can pay 10 additional dollars and take it home, maybe for their gardens or something else. A lot of “10$ trees” are bought by parks, schools etc. So, any tree can’t die.

Washboard – source of profit

Washboard

America is known to be mad about ecology and healthy way of life. But sometimes this madness becomes so quaint that normal people would say that Americans do not to know when they are well off.

Today, when there is 21st century behind the window, the company Columbus Washboard Company succeeded in production of washboards. Yes, the ones that are not used even in remotest parts of Siberia for more than 20 years… At first sight this is delirious idea, but it only seems to be so. Tourists, car travelers, various religious sects, Indians in reservations, students, hippies, and simply poor citizens (there are suchlike people, too) buy washboards. US Army also commercially buys washboards (remember – there are a lot of contingents in other countries). Musical bands are also in the list of users of this item. Maybe you do not know, but washboard is one of the main musical instruments in jazz and R’n’B. Well, at least it is said in website of Columbus Washboard. Besides, there is a new trend to use washboards for decoration of houses and offices in country style. (more…)
